Le Boulevard de la Madeleine

On January 13, 1916, this postcard of Le Boulevard de la
Madeleine was sent to a corporal serving in the French Army
during World War I. Chez nous ca va assez bien...(At
our place everything's going well enough) says this card
from a family member or good friend, since it opens by noting
the sender recu ta lettre.
The Madeleine is the name given
to the Church of the Magdalen, which looks like a Greek
temple, which it started to be during Napoleon's reign. Fives
years before the building was consecrated as a church in 1842
it almost became the first railway terminal in Paris. Peek
around the corner and you'll see the flower market is on the
side of the Madeleine closest to the Opera.
